Hoag Vs. Mission

Hi Ladies! I found out I'm pregnant last week with my first baby and am trying to find an OBGYN. I have narrowed down the hospitals to Hoag or Mission. I'm sure I can't go wrong with either. However, I am leaning toward Mission just because it's 15 minutes away and Hoag is 30 minutes away...but I have heard such good things about Hoag!!! I'm also open to Doctor recommendations. I wish I would have asked some on my girlfriends before I was pregnant...I'm just don't want to spill the beans yet!  ;-)

Any recommendations, experiences, thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!

I'm delivering at Hoag in Newport Beach. I am seeing the Fashion Island Woman's Group. While I adore my doctor, there is long wait times to schedule appointments and no online options. That being said, they came HIGHLY recommended by multiple doctors to me. I would suggest Dr. Flora or Dr. Lai (when she is back from maternity leave herself).

I am delivering at Hoag in September. I think Hoag is the best in the OC hands down! I go to Dr Ahdoot in Irvine off Sand Canyon and he is really good. I have been going to him for about 6 years and it worked out great when I wanted to have a baby since he is an OBGYN. I can't say enough good stuff about him, he even recently won an award - I think it was something to do with top OBGYN in the OC area but am not 100% sure. His office staff (Veronica and Letty) are WONDERFUL too! They are beyond helpful and it's always nice to see them when I go for my visits as they are really caring and supportive. Good luck!

I delivered at Mission and am so thankful I did!  I loved Mission!  They were so nice and it was such a great and easy experience for us   We saw Dr. Capobianco out of Mission OBGYN....  A friend referred us to him and he was FABULOUS!  I didn't know this until I went through a birthing class but Drs from Mission OBGYN have an 80% rate of delivering their patients babies! That to me was huge because I didn't want a Dr I didn't know looking at me who-ha when I delivered (maybe that's silly but to me it was important that the day I delivered wasn't the first time someone saw that part of my body)  Dr. Capo and his staff were wonderful and I would recommend and refer anyone to him!  Good luck and I wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy

Thanks so much for your suggestions! I think Hoag is a good choice for my husband and I. It's in the middle of both of our work places...Mission would be an hour drive for my husband from his work. I have read numerous reviews on Dr. Flora...I'm trying to get in to see her. :-)

It's also really nice because they have wonderful, caring nurses, ocean view rooms, rooms that are big and allow your spouse or significant other to stay (they have a bed and blankets for them too!).  Your spouse gets 1 free meal a day from the cafeteria (where they have yummy food including Haagen Dazs ice cream), and they give you a celebratory dinner after the baby is born that includes a tasty filet (I think it's even bacon wrapped, I don't eat pork).

 

All the above just makes it more comforting and helps it not to feel like a hospital. For me this is priceless as I am freaked out!

I know...I keep reading reviews from others saying Hoag is more like a hotel then a hospital. ;-) I'm so happy I made the choice to go to have our baby there...I'm so relieved that I made a decision I'm %100 happy with! :-)

Congratulations! I am seeing Dr. Lai and Dr. Flora while Dr. Lai is out on maternity leave. I really like the staff there the only downside is the long hold times but they have improved a lot in the last month.

Well I am a mother baby (postpartum nurse) at Hoag so I am obviously biased. It's fabulous! Dr Flora delivered my first two girls and I just loved her to bits. A bit of a wait time in the office but she's a smart cookie and also really cares about her patients. I have to say there are a million fantastic OBs that deliver at Hoag however.

I'm delivering at hoag and my on is dr Roya Rakshani- she and her staff are beyond amazing and personable! Her office is new small and modern and the girls that work for her are great! She delivers at hoag and her office is located right near hoag. If you can't get into the other obs you must go to her! She is amazing! I as well went on a search for the perfect ob and found her!!!!

I go to Mission OB/GYN and see Dr. Leon Baginski. Love it so far, delivering at Mission (it's where I was born, too. Husband was born at Hoag...neener! LOL)

Congrats!! I go to Dr. Pollock at Mission Hospital. She is awesome. Patient, great bedside manner, flexible appointments, and said she makes it to 90% of deliveries as that's her favorite part of the whole process (duh, makes sense!). I am also aiming for an all-natural birth and she is totally on board with that, if that's something that matters to you.

I go to Dr. Pollock as well. Love her!! Delivered my son at Mission two years ago and it was amazing. Now due with baby girl # 2 any day!!
