Babies: 3 - 6 Months

still not STTN

My 13 week old still needs to dream feed, or use me as a pacifier for a few minutes at least 2-3 times a night. Last night was 4 times. I dont know whats going on. I realize this is normal and ok, but it's frustrating when he has slept long hours before, but still cant consistently sleep a solid 5 hours. he is not underweight, he gets lots of playtime during the day, lots to eat. What is causing him to stir this many times?

Re: still not STTN

  • my son was up 2-4 times a night as well until 4.5 months. he just started STTN (bedtime 8 wake up at 2 or 3am for feed and then back to bed until 6 or 7am wake up) this week but who knows if it will last.   i think its totally normal for this age to have varied sleep patterns.

  • My son slept through the night from 5wks to 12wks. He is now almost 13wks and for the past week he gets up a few times a night to eat. I think its just a growth spurt. I've been told that the 12wk/3mon growth spurt is hard on baby and mommy. You'll get through it!
  • Mine is 15 wks tomorrow aNd for the past 3 wks has been getting to every 1.5 to 2 hrs max. Prior to that we doing a dream feed at 10 and only waking once around 330 to eat. Now I'm exhausted and ready to move onto the next stage.

To be blunt....he's a baby. They change constantly and have different needs everyday. I'd try to go with the flow more and hope for the best, but plan for the worst. Nothing is wrong with him.
Yep, this. Have you tried feeding him more often during the day? If you get more calories in him during the day he might stretch out his sleep more at night. Other than that, hang in there! It will get better soon.
