Hi ladies DH and I have our first meeting with our GS coordinator tomorrow. She'll be the one who manages our case from start to finish and will assist with everything from the legal stuff to finding the GC.
I have a list of questions for her, but I would really like your help coming up with more. Even if you're not doing GS, just what you think you would want to know.
We are doing GS and there were so many questions we had for our agency when we first met (our agency is a one-woman show, so it sounds like a very similar situation to yours). I don't know how you feel about the monetary aspect of all of this, but it's good to know after a certain time of not finding a GS, is there a reimbursement for you? Or what happens if they can't find a carrier - do they have an active recruiting process for new carriers for their agency? I'd also ask about lawyers - do they choose one lawyer for you, give you a list and you can pick, etc.? Will they assist you with the medical aspect of things - training for your injections if you want it, etc? Will they work with the delivering hospital (when the times comes) in regards to lactation induction (if you're interested) and will they be in contact with the hospital's social worker/program to ensure you have visiting rights?
If you want to PM me for a further/more in depth question list or if you want to know how our experience went, please feel free. We started working with our agency, met her carrier (it didn't work out), applied to another agency (that was a sh!tstorm!), then found a carrier on our own and are working with the original agency again. We've been at this for about 3 months and have already learned so much. I'm by no means an expert, but if I can help someone else out who is going through this same situation, I'd be more than happy to.
