Pregnant after IF

Anyone Have a Dermoid Cyst Removed?

Good evening ladies! I was wondering if anyone is KU who had a dermoid cyst removed? I had one removed in 2011 and they removed 1/4 of my ovary with it. Usually before I get my period, I feel pain in that ovary. Now I am 5wks3dys pregnant and feel pain in that ovary daily. Does anyone else feel this during their pregnancy? I am absolutely petrified of (Gd forbid) having an ectopic pregnancy, and when I have concentrated pain to one side, it scares the day lights out of me! I dint have an ultrasound scheduled until August 8th. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ladies!

I hope you don't mind me responding from SAIF....are you worried that the dermoid returned?  I had huge dermoids removed from both ovaries in 2010.  I had two tiny ones return before we started our ivf cycle and I had them throughout my pregnancy.  I wound up needing a lap and having them removed 3 weeks pp, but I had a lot of other stuff going on.  The dermoids caused me no problems during my pregnancy.  I did have a lot of cramping and pulling sensations early in my pregnancy but that is normal.  Most people I know (on here and irl) have had these early pregnancy pains so I hope that is what is going on with you too! Lots of luck to you and congrats!

  • Ever since I had the surgery, every time I'm about to get my period I had pain in that ovary. Just wondering if the pain I'm feeling could be from the sliced and diced ovary, or maybe I should be more concerned?

hmmm.... I would definitely bring it up to your Dr. but I don't think you have anything to worry about.  Cramping and pain (even on one side) are pretty normal early pregnancy symptoms. I also had it pretty bad but I don't think it was from the surgery.  Good luck and I hope the wait for your u/s goes by quickly!
