When we were planning our wedding, we were going to go to Italy.
With the baby and everything we decided not a good idea. It's not because of the pregnancy or the cost of the baby, its more that we would really love to make a trip to Chile (FI's home) with the baby in 2010 and we already know that's going to be costly.
So we decided that we want to get married next month and are thinking of where we could go. We're looking for 5 days, no cruises, and no international trips. I'm thinking maybe Hawaii or California. We threw the idea of NY in the mix because we both love visiting there BUT we go there once every year so and I have family there. So it wouldn't feel like alone time.
Re: NBR (sort of): Need honeymoon ideas
Love Hawaii. Airfare is costly, but you can rent a condo for much cheaper than a hotel. Check out www.vrbo.com. We went to Kauai and stayed at this cute inn for about $100 a night. It is the Kauai Banyan Inn. We also rented a house on the North Shore of Oahu. So much fun! Hawaii is great because there are so many different places to go and things to explore that don't cost an arm and a leg.
We did a week in CA once and spent more money there than in Hawaii. We flew into San Francisco and road tripped it down the coast, flying out of San Diego. It was a lot of fun to explore, but most of what we did involved wine tasting and drinking, so that might not be as much fun for a pregnant person!
Good luck!
Thanks for the suggestions ladies!
As for Florida Keys, we go every chance we get and we love it. It's a 3 hour drive from home. If you are thinking about going, highly recommended. It's such a relaxing time. I love it!
Thanks for the suggestion of Hawaii. I will check out that site!
Hawaii!!
We went to Kauai for out honeymoon and loved it. The only issue with going while pregnant is that there are some activities that you may not be able to do. For example we took a boat up the Napali coast and snorkeled. The boat ride was very rough and bumpy so I wouldn't recommend that for a pregnant woman, then again we went in September so it may have been rougher than usual. We also hiked the Napali coast but again i don't recommend that to a pregnant woman. It rains a lot there so the trail is very slippery and it's very easy to slip and fall. Still it is beautiful.
We stayed at a friend's place at the Beach Club in Gulf Shores, AL. We loved it and can't wait to go back.
