Sigh...name help please?!

Disclaimer:  I know everyone is over name posts (or discussions as they are now called) But I need some help!

DD's name is Mary and we love it for its strength, femininity, timelessness, and because it is not too common right now.  We are looking for the some qualities in this baby's name, but cannot find one we "love".  We have thought of and like alot, Elizabeth, Emily, Sarah....but they are a little too...predictable?   Middle name will be Kathryn, we just can't pick a first name.  Any suggestions?!

Ill be biased and go with Sara...no H. But that's bc it's my name.

There are alot of names that go well w Katheryn, it's a great name.

We have a few boy names and will decide when we see him. Maybe pick your favs and see what she looks like. :\">
  • We're naming our daughter Eleanor, for all the same reasons you named yours Mary! I love it, plus there are lots of great NN options if you're into that.

  • For some reason I like Lucy with Mary. But, when I think Mary, I think biblical. What about Leah?

Ha! Keep in mind Margaret is a spin off of Martha which basically means the boss ;)
I know it's my moms name and Martha was her aunts name and both were/are very bossy!

  • Thanks Ladies!  I do really like Eleanor, especially when you throw in the NN options.  We were actually just talking about Leah, Dh's uncle named Lee just passed away and we are thinking of naming her after him, plus it is a pretty name.

I propably wouldn't pair Margaret with Mary....stand alone I really like it though.

And Eloise is def one to think on...I think I like it....

  • I grew up with a family of girls named Molly, Maggie, and Mary. I think their names went really well together :)

  • Our little man would have been Sadie Jane if he was a girl!
  • Mary and Emily sound nice together, and Emily Kathryn is nice.

I also like the suggestions of Lucy, Eloise, and Penelope. Especially Penelope. Best of luck :)

DD's name is Hannah Mary. Hannah is biblical and means God has favored me. That's why we chose it (in addition to it being very pretty)

  • I love Elizabeth. I'm not sure what you mean when you refer to the names you like as predictable.

  • Out of the names you listed I like Sarah the most. If we would have been having a girl her name would have been Olivia Ann.

I think Sarah or Leah go well with Mary and are consistent with your preferences

  • I'm a Sarah Elizabeth. I love my first name, even though it was fairly common for my generation. I also love someone's suggestion of Eleanor.

  • What about Alice or Jane?  I feel like those are a lot less common than Elizabeth, Sarah, etc. but of the same vein.

  • I second Eleanor. I also love the nn Rosie, which could be used for Rosalie, Rosalind, or just Rose. All timeless, classic girls names.
  • I love Charlotte or Rosalie, as some PP mentioned. Very classy and feminine but you don't hear everyday.
