High-Risk Pregnancy

T2 and Newly Pregnant

I got my BFP yesterday and I'm pretty excited. With DD1 (who is 15 months now) I was dx'd with GD. After I delivered, we found out I was undiagnosed Type 2 instead. I've been on Metformin for a year and my endo will have me on an insulin pump while pregnant because it will give me easier control.

Any other T1 or T2 ladies out here? Seems like I'll have another April baby on my hands :)

I'm currently in Iceland with DH and his family and we'll be moving here permanently August 2014. I'm putting in a call to my endo on Monday.

Random question for those who are T1 or T2, do your endo/MFM have you testing before or after meals? Normally when I'm not pregnant I check before each meal and before bed. When I was pregnant with "GD" I was doing fasting then 2 hours after each meal. Did you get switched?

For now, I switched to fasting and 2 hours after each meal since that is what the MFM had me do and my endo let me know that during pregnancy we would defer to him. I'll double check with him on Monday (he doesn't have office hours on Fridays).

Re: T2 and Newly Pregnant

  • I'm T2 as well. My endo put me on an insulin pump ( omnipod, which I love) and a continuous glucose monitor. My monitor is a Dexcom and checks my blood sugar every 5 minutes. It has truly been a lifesaver as it shows trends and you can set it for different ranges and alerts. I'd see if you could get one of these as well. :)
