Not sure what this is...AF or...implantation bleeding?

So, I had some brownish black spotting yesterday that has continued into today. Initially I thought it was AF (I kind of still do) because it started right on the day AF was due (and my cycles are VERY regular), but given the color and the amount I don't know what to make of it. I usually go through 5 ultra tampons per day for the first two days and have to change at least once in the middle of the night, but all day today I've used a regular tampon and when I changed, there was just a bit of the dark brownish black discharge. Any insights??? Could it be implantation bleeding?? Should I get a HPT tomorrow?

Maybe it's wishful thinking ... maybe it's true. I would really appreciate your insights!

It could be implantation bleeding. It could be your cycle just doing something slightly different, maybe a couple of light days first, or just a very light period this cycle?

It always sucks balls when your body decides to do something very different.

I hope it is implantation bleeding for you, but really you can only know by either waiting it out or testing. Best wishes!

From all that I've read and heard here, implantation bleeding is usually just a small spot of pink or bright red blood once, not something that continues for days, and it would be something you get before your period is due. Of course it's also something you can't know for certain you've had until you get a positive test, so who knows. But FWIW, I always have spotting before my period arrives, so what you're experiencing sounds just like that to me. Only time will be able to tell you for sure.

Ticker warning.

I have experienced implantation bleeding twice and neither time was it as dark as you are describing. The first time it happened right when I thought my period was due, the second time several days before. The second time started as brown spotting then turned to peachy discharge, but the spotting was light brown, not dark as you describe. I suspect you are just having a variance in the start to your period. However, if the spotting stops or you do not start a full flow in another day or two I would take a test. Everyone is different and every pregnancy is different so there is no way to know for certain unless you get your period or take a test. Good luck!

Thanks. It's the first time in my life I am experiencing something like this. A bit of cramping here and there, very slight and barely noticeable. And then the lack of flow of course. Will buy a HPT tomorrow if this wanes or disappears altogether. I'm marking it as sporting in my chart for now instead if low flow.

Thank you! It does suck. My breasts have been killing me the last two days too. Don't know what to make of any of this. Crossing my fingers but being cautious not to get carried away.

If it is in fact implantation bleeding, you may not get a positive HPT yet. Your body doesn't start producing HCG until implantation, so you probably wouldn't have enough in your system to get a positive test yet. I'd wait a few more days, then poas. Good luck!!

Thanks for that tip! I've been reading the same. For some people AF eventually appears 5 days after this brown spotting. For others BFP appears a week later. Will try to be patient although it's so fricking hard!!
The spotting has decreased considerably since yesterday. I'm no longer using a tampon. And my nipples are hurting now along with my breasts.
Patience sure is a virtue I need to develop :-)

Thank you! We went and bought the HPT ... no spotting since 11 a.m.

Will take the HPT first thing tomorrow morning ... want to give AF one more chance tonight and really hope she ain't coming! Thanks a ton for your wishes. Will post an update in the am.
