Working Moms

What would you do? Long**

So at my job we are open 2 Saturdays a month and when I came back from maternity leave I told my office manager I could work one Saturday a month. Not unreasonable in my opinion because that would give someone a Saturday off as well. Well as of lately we have been down a person (she never showed up one day) so I've been thrown in more than I would like. I'm working 45+ hours a week, which means I don't get to spend anytime with dd and that upsets me. Well is month I'm working both weekend we are open, and I get that there are sacrifices that need to be made until we get another person in to replace the one that left. B when I went to my manager, who is the other RVT at my job, and asked her why I was working both weekends, she said that she was going out of town and needed an RVT to work. Ok I get that, wasn't happy but I get it. Come to find out today she isn't really going out of town!! Oh I was so mad!! What would you ladies do? Would you say something or do nothing? I really just want to spend time with dd! Ugh I hate working.

  • If I were you I would not say anything about whether your supervisor was going out of town or not. I would just go to her and mention that you are only able to work one weekend a month and you don't mind helping out from time to time but you cannot work more than one weekend a month on a consistent basis.

    I wouldn't mention that the supervisor didn't go out of town.. I would just reiterate that you can't work more than one weekend a month..


    I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!
