Start looking into ways to relax during labor, weather that's by using pain meds, meditating, whatever. Limit the negative stories, they just add to your anxiety. Everyone's labor is different, just because a friend had a bad experience doesn't mean you will. I would suggest checking out the website Birth Without Fear, it has all sorts of great birth stories that are meant to make you feel empowered, not scared.
It really, truly comes down to this, IMO, and a good support system that you know will be there for you.Stephw32 said:Knowledge is power. No one else will be able to tell you exactly what to expect but you can prepare yourself for situations that may happen simply by Doing research and educating yourself on labor and delivery
Another first time mom, but this is what's getting me through!Jill9288 said:FTM, but just remember, one way or another, you end up with a baby at the end. The baby on the side of the road stories always freaked me out. It made me feel a little better hearing 1. That it is rare and 2. That the vast majority of those babies come without complications...they are just ready. I was told this by my MW, Bradley coach and the nurse on the L&D tour.Stormytucker said:Well thanks everyone! U guys certainly made me feel better! Rationally I know out bodies are made for this, It's just tuning the crazy stories people feel necessary to tell a pregnant woman that I just don't understand! I will be ignoring all of those from this moment on!
