DH and I are taking Hunter to Disneyworld next week and if anyone has any tips, advice, websites, secrets, anything to share before we leave, I would love to hear your input. I have seen so many pictures on fb of trips from a good majority of you so if you have anything to share, I would really appreciate it.
TIA,
Elizabeth!
Re: Disney related
We were just there last week. Be prepared that it's probably going rain (like thunderstorm) every afternoon. Go pick up some cheap ponchos so you don't have to spend $10 on the ones there. Plan to get to the parks early and stay until about 11 am. Grab a bite to eat around 11:30 and then get the heck out of the park! It got way too hot/humid and crowded after 11. We were all cranky by then so after lunch we went back to the room and had a nap and maybe some pool time. Waited for the rains to ease up and then went back into the parks for dinner and stayed until closing- it was actually very pleasant in the evenings after the rains. This was the best schedule for us. Oh and don't kill yourself trying to see/do everything. It's impossible so just take your time and enjoy the sights/sounds/smells.
I took Gavin and my niece to the new bowling alley at Downtown Disney one rainy afternoon and that was really fun. I highly reccommend it but it got way too packed in the evenings so make sure you go before 5 pm.
Also, I don't know if its just this time of year but we had several encounters with "rude" people last week. I have never had so many people- grown adults- cut in line before! And push you out of the way during parades/fireworks. It was awful- not at all typical Disney behavior so please don't make judgements on this. We go all the time and never encountered this before. Very strange to have seen so much of it last week. I think it was just summer heat/crowds getting to folks but honestly, I was embarrassed to have my kids around some of them!
Oh and one more thing... TAKE A STROLLER. 1. It's too much for them to walk. 2. There will come a time when you need to push your way through a crowd (she with the biggest stroller wins!) 3. You can rent one of theirs but they are like $15/day and not very comfy. Also, you have to leave them in the park and it can still be quite a hike to the buses/monorails. If you have a tired kiddo at night, having your own stroller is a lifesaver.
