Alliteration in names

Do you stay away from alliteration? Our last name is Bur.ke and I'm really loving the name Benjamin lately. Is Benjamin /Ben Bur.ke too much?

  • Great question - still can't decide. Beatrice is one of my favorites, but she would be Beatrice B------. I just don't know!

  • DS1 is Nathanael T. N.
If LO3 is a daughter then her initials will be MMN. But I can't decide between "Mary," "Marie" or "Maria" for the middle name. /sigh.

I guess we don't really avoid them here. As long as the name flows well, who cares if they start with the same sound? I have more of an issue with rhyming. Like "Elton Milton" or something like that.

I think it's fine as long as they're not like...the same name. Like the Thomas Thompson nonsense. That just irks me. If it's just the same letter I say go for it. It's cute.

Yeah, I agree with this.  My maiden name was an alliterative one, and I loved it.  I was really sad to give up my name when DH and I married, but I didn't want to mess with hyphens or drop my MN, so I did it anyway.

  • @CDalloway Beatrice is a great name. That's our little girls name
  • I think Ben b is super cute. I really want Charlie and our last name is the same as the little white place you can go to get married. I can't get over the cha and cha.
