DS (1 year old) is in a great DC that has 2 infant rooms (0 to 18 months). The DC does part-time so different kids come for different days. For the past 2 weeks or so, I’ve noticed that all of the kids in his room have moved on to the other infant room, so DS is generally in his room with only one or two other kids who are younger (under 6 months). He can’t really interact with them since they are too young, so he spends much of the day crawling around by himself. The teacher is there and she does pay a lot of attention to him when she can, but one of the big reasons I have DS in a DC is so that he can socialize with other babies, and he seems to really like playing with the other kids - he even had a favourite buddy that he played with a lot and they would pass toys back and forth with each other and follow each other around. I counted the number of kids in the other infant room and it seems that ratio-wise, there shouldn’t be a problem with DS being in the other room. Should I ask the director to move him? Please tell me if I’m being a helicopter parent though - I’m a FTM so it’s all new to me :P
Re: Should I say something? (DC-related)
I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!
I would just ask "it seems several of his friends have moved to the other class, what's the plan for DS?" Typically it just that your child isn't meeting some of their criteria OR they are waiting on one more child in the next room to also move up.
