Since it is kind of slow today, let's do a get to know you.
If you had to give a 10 minute speech about anything, what would it be? Another way of looking at it is what is your hill to die on? What boosts you up onto your soapbox?
Mine would be somewhere along the lines of taking responsibility for oneself and pushing for success. I hate excuses and how everyone has one. What's done is done, learn and move on.
"I will show you the kind of big sister I will be..."
It would be 10 minutes of me sweating, shuddering, stammering and probably eventually crying. I hate public speaking and I am TERRIFED of giving speeches. (:|
I think mine would be college. There's too much emphasis in our society that all kids need to go to college. College isn't the right choice for everyone, and I think Guidance Counselors should be more involved in helping HS students find the right path.
This segues into my other issue of how college tuition increases are criminal. It's all such a racket.

Since I work in healthcare and hear a lot of peoples excuses for repeat offenses of coming back every few months would be quitting smoking and prescription drug education post hospital stay. I get so ramped up about patient's either not getting educated properly or patient's not heeding the advice of the physician.
Is it ok to use the time to just tell someone off? Because that's what I would do.
I would use that time to tear into my asshole neighbor about his stupid
Civic with the loud muffler. I would tell him he is not cool, but
completely obnoxious & the rest of the block hates him. Our
residential street is not your personal test track to be racing up &
down after you've "worked" on your car, every.fucking.day.
But if it had to be a general speechy speech, then I guess it would be on how to respect your neighbors

"I will show you the kind of big sister I will be..."
or, um, the stigma of the working mom in American society (it was my thesis topic).
or the illusion of, and false sense of entitlement to, privacy on social media.
or for gods sake's, why people believe and repeat as facts things they read on the internet/hear on talk radio/hear a politician say.
well wow. Apparently I'm way more ranty than I thought.
