2am wake ups

I've had 2 nights of this and I can't take it - thank goodness tomorrow is Friday which means the weekend so I don't have to be a functional human being at work.  DD was up from 2am to 4am last night then back up at 6am.  I think it's the 4 month wakeful (she'll be 4 months next Thursday - time flies!).  She doesn't cry, just babbles and plays in her crib.  Her new favorite thing is the slats of her crib.  She'll wiggle her arm out of the swaddle and grab one and pull herself against the side of the crib.  Then she'll try to gnaw on the wooden slat or she'll wrap her arm around it like she's hugging it.  Such a little weirdo . . . but it's cute nonetheless.  I tried just letting her entertain herself but it kept me up anyway since I could hear her.  I did wind up giving her a bottle at 3am and she drank it right down though she hadn't been fussing for it - I was really just hoping it would help her fall back to sleep, no luck.  She's not understanding mommy's new mantra: Play time is for the day time.

If she isn't hungry I'd avoid feeding her at night. You don't want her to supplement her day calories with night calories and make it a habit-of course if she IS hungry than feed her, but if she's just playing than don't offer the bottle and let her fall asleep.

Honestly, my LO did that too for...IDK how long. I didn't even realize she was doing it until I went up to go to the bathroom one night and heard her cooing and babbling. then the next night, same thing, different time of night.  She's down a little hallway, our doors are all closed and the monitors all the way down. Believe me, if she needed me, she'd let me know.

But the 4 month wakeful was just that for us-she got up a little earlier, naps were a little shorter, and I'm pretty sure she got up throughout the night, but she never cried and wasn't fussy. It actually ended on our vacation-I was actually very thankful for the 4 month wakeful because it meant disrupting her sleep schedule was no big for the first day of travel. 

she seems back to normal, if a little jet lagged. poor thing.
