Success after IF

Made an appointment with Houston Fertility Institute - Anyone been there?

So since my periods are getting crazier (this month I had a 21 day cycle and an 8 day LP - WTF?) and with my FSH coming back a little high (11.2), I decided to go talk to yet another RE about freezing some embryos. I went to see another doctor at Baylor in April who specializes in genetic issues, but he didn't think IVF/freezing was a good idea due to low AFC and suggested repeated IUI's.  However, someone on here told me that Baylor has a crappy lab.  I've heard a lot of good things about HFI and DH was a few years behind Dr. Griffith (at Houston Fertility Institute) in med school so I decided to make an appointment with him...plus, the HFI Willowbrook location is literally like only a couple of miles from my work.  So I made an appointment there.  Anyone been there?  I wonder what their take will be...

I'm afraid my opinion is not glowing.
However, I was at a different HFI, not willowbrook. I also went to the one in the med center one time and was so disappointed that I never went back. FX hit location is way better.

I hate to hear that you had a bad experience. I didn't have a good experience at Houston IVF so I'm not going back there...have you been to any other clinic in Houston?

Oh I'm so glad to hear that! Hopefully the location I went to was the only one run by a barrel of untrained monkeys.

  • I am sorry you didn't have a good experience with Houston IVF. I was successful with them on my 2nd IVF with my twins. I would highly recommend doing acupuncture with Chris Axelrad at the Axelrad Clinic. I think he made all the difference since we didn't change anything protocol wise. He has many clients who are HFI patients. My friend who used HFI recommended him to me.

MrsNukem- I had a consult with Chris and then I got pregnant and didn't go back...probably should have because I had horrible MS and, later, pre-e. I actually did get pregnant at houston ivf, but I still had a bad experience. There were multiple issues, but

  • Posted too soon. What I was saying was the biggest two issues were that: 1. I got an infection from the HSG and I could not get anyone to call ke back...for days. It took me several days to get a phone call returned and get a simple antibiotic. 2. My RX for progesterone ran out (during my pregnancy) which was sustaining ny pregnancy and it took them literally like a week (after I called 2 dozen times AND went up there and sat in the waiting room) to get a refill. All they had to do was call it in to the pharmacy but they couldn't be bothered to do that. The pharmacist was literally giving me progesterone without an rx just so I would not lose the pregnancy.

  • On my 4th medicated iui cycle with Dr. Witz in the clear lake office. I think everyone goes to piney point for iui/ivf procedures after stimming in their dr.s office. Im not real satisfied with the staff at piney point but love love love dr. Witz and his staff at clear lake office.
  • I love the clear lake office. They ALWAYS take my calls. I NEVER wait for appt. I ALWAYS show up whenever I can on day of appt. And walk straight past receptionist back to yolanda for bw then to ultra sound. In and out in 15 min. No joke. Maybe once Or twice had to leave a message but they cb immediately. Dr. Witz will call back too if u ask to speak to him. Any time I I have a concern they see me that day. Love the staff at HFI Clear Lake. Starting my 4th medicated iui cycle with them.
