I know everyone asks about carriers but I want opinions on the sling ring and where you suggest getting one. I currently have a mei tai and a heavier one for hiking but I'm just looking for something easy for around the house, grocery store etc. I love my mei tai but DS is in this awkward size. He's 8 weeks and too big to be curled up but he's not quite big enough to sit with his legs around me. Plus in the proper sitting position and in "froggy style" he can't see out and gets fussy. With the ring sling will thee issues be fixed? I don't want to spend a lot on a 3rd carrier either and I saw some cute ones on etsy and are linen so I'm thinking it will be cooler during these hot summer months here in NC.
I would either shorten the body on the mei tai - just take the belt side and fold it over once or twice before you tie it on - or put a folded up receiving blanket in under his bum to boost him up and get the legs in a comfy position.
I like my ring sling, too, but you sound like you don't want to spend $$$ on another carrier right now. The things to look for in a ring sling are proper rings (the seller should say they bought them from slingrings.com if it's on etsy) and the shoulder - I like good pleats.
Ring slings are great to have though. I would be cautious on etsy. There are some good sellers but also many that are not compliant with the new regulations. sleepingbaby.net is a good source of quality lower priced slings. Or buy used! Linen is an excellent choice though (I would not get a sling from cotton which many etsy sellers use).
