VBAC - Guidelines and standard practices (time between pregnancies)

BrissettBrissett member
I would like to know if there are recommended guidelines or standards pertaining to the amount of time required or preferred between csection and VBAC. Thanks!

Re: VBAC - Guidelines and standard practices (time between pregnancies)

  • It depends on your provider but all I have talked to and it seems most other OBs as well follow the rule of 18-24 months from birth to birth.

  • All OBs I have talked to and it seems most others have talked to all agree on 18-24 months from birth to birth. It can, however, depend on your provider so I would discuss with your OB.

  • My CNM told me 18 months between births period.  She practices in a hospital with a VBAC ban so that was her recommendation for a RCS.  My OB recommends one year from delivery to conception no matter what type of birth you had to allow the hormones time to stabilize.
