Blood clot behind placenta

So when the NP called me with my u/s results she said everythings looks great: measuring well, good strong heartbeat, etc.  However, she said that I have a small blood clot behind my placenta.  I didn't give it much thought because she didn't seem to worried about it, but now it's got me thinking.  I haven't even spotted so far (***keeps fingers crossed***).

Anyone else have this experience they want to share?  What can I expect?  I'd Google it, but I learned a long time ago google usually scares more than helps.  Stick out tongue

Re: Blood clot behind placenta

  • It sounds like what I had/have...a subchoriotic hemmorhage...mine just bled for a day or so. I went to the dr and everything was fine with the baby and since then it has healed on its own.

  • At my first u/s, the tech pointed out that I had one, and that I may eventually have dark brown spotting and not to be worried. She said it was from the baby implanting into the uterus and that she sees them all the time.

Same here! It usually results in brown spotting.

  • I also had the same thing told to me for my u/s. But I went in early because I was having brown spotting. My doctor didn't seem too concerned about it but when I asked if it was bad, he said that it could cause a problem, although unlikely.

I'm hopeful that mine is gone now. I had brown spotting for a week or so. Over the weekend I passed a brown clot. It scared the heck out of me but since then I haven't had any spotting (knocks on wood). So I'm hopeful that whatever is there is gone now. And it is a subchorionic bleed/hemorrage.
