gas pain in shoulder

this started this morning. so my left shoulder hurts just below the blade/next to it. pain goes away when DH rubs it (tried to convince him he just had to keep rubbing it) and it hurts more when i take a deep breath or drink something.

of course, google led me to ectopic pregnancie and miscarriage but since i saw the sac last week i can rule out the first.

i'm thinking gas pains. God pregnancy is weird.

Re: gas pain in shoulder

  • in your shoulder? it's probably just a pulled muscle or a trigger point.

  • hmmm, i don't think you'd have a gas pain in your shoulder. i agree with pp...maybe you pulled a muscle or something. hope it feels better soon!
  • You can have referred gas pain in your shoulder. It's happened to me a bunch - always think I am having a heart attack though :)
  • after much googling (too much, trust me on this) - i've discovered that pains in your shoulder when it is where i feel it (under the blade) are probably "reflexive" (or something) and that it is probably related to gas in the stomach. i've had pulled muscles and always have knots in my shoulders so i know what those are like. in fact, my right shoulder actually is very tense/knotty right now. i went on webmd and someone there suggested gas pains without me bringing it up - not that they definitely know.

  • c-ville - yes! referred pain not reflexive or whatever i wrote.

i used to get gas pains in my chest when i was little and was positive i was having a heart attack and my mom would just look at me and say: it's gas.

  • I'd guess gas pains. I usually can't tell if I'm full by my stomach, my left shoulder starts to hurt and only feels better when I put pressure on it (or make hubby rub it). Many people think I'm nuts, but it's completely proven to be referred stomach pain from gas or fullness.

  • It could be gas pains.  I remember when I had my C-Section for my son, I got horrible gas pains in my shoulder during the surgery and they gave me some drugs so the pain would go away.  Also, the week I found out I was pg with #2 I had the same shoulder pain.  Very weird.  But, it went away after a day or two.
