why does Pedialyte need to be refrigerated?

If it's just water and minerals/electrolytes, what is the reason for refrigeration.

My understanding is that the balance of nutrients and electrolytes that makes it so good for DC also makes it an ideal place for bacteria etc. to grow. ?
