why baby aspirin? SAIFW

I see alot of you take baby aspirin. I know it helps thin the blood for circulation but my dr has never said to take it?? Is it something that you ladies decided to take on your own or was it prescribed & why? What days do you take it and how many a day?

  • I have been taking it every day since we started with our RE (May '07). I was originally put on it because I have FVL (hetero)--a blood clotting disorder.  Aspirin has also been said to help with implantation because of the improved blood flow to the uterus.  Some with repeat losses also take it (which we have also had).  You should not take it without your doctor's approval. I take 81mg/day.

  • I take 81mg everyday. I have a clotting disorder and am also on lovenox. Apparently it helps with implantation and keeps the blood flowing correctly to the baby. I would ask your dr. because i don't think it could hurt. GL to you!

  • It was prescribed, and my RE said to only take it under dr. supervision.

Mine is more of a prophylactic measure than anything. I have recurrent pregnancy loss, and even though all my testing was normal, my family has a history of stroke and clotting issues, so my RE figured it was a good idea for me.

Talk to your dr. about dosage and if you need it.

  • mine prescribes it routinely w/ IVF (not sure about IUI), I believe the thinking is that it helps w/ blood flow to the uterus/implantation & also w/ blood flow to the ovaries to help w/ egg quality, but I'm pretty sure all studies have been inconclusive.
