my pedi recommended a formula change, as in most babies, chronic eczema is generally considered to be a food allergy. Once I stopped using Enfamil AR, it cleared up.
I am not sure what a bfing mom would do, perhaps look at her own diet?
As far as topical, I was instructed NOT to use vaseline or aquaphor and to use eucerin in the tub, not the lotion. Worked very well for little outbreaks that might have been topical
skoorbnibor - i breastfeed and am tring to figure out if it may be something part of my diet. you mentioned eucerin in the tub, i went on the website and am not sure which product you mean. can you please tell me the exact name? (i have aquafor tub currently for diaper rash and such)
blueshirt2003 - i looked up elidel which sounds awesome, when comparing to hydrocortizone with steroid, but on the product site they note that it shouldn't be used on kids under 2. dd is too young i am afraid.
zach'swife - other then vaseline, did you do anything else? diet changes? (like another person who commented here, i was told that vaseline is actually drying)
Melissa17 - is vanicream for kids? also, did you use the grapeseed oil topically? (i did read that if you're breastfeeding it may have omega 3 acids that may clear up atopic dermatitis)
Re: Ezcema - What has helped your LO?
1) baths
2) grapeseed oil (alternate with #3)
3) vanicream (lotion)
4) me cutting out dairy
5) humidifer
