I debated over posting my birth story, although the more I thought about it the more I realized you really need to go into pregnancy/birth with an open mind. I will start by saying my experience was in NO way typical and if your scared about delivery please don't read.
On December 15th I met my DH for lunch at Subway around noon. I was feeling some pressure, but didn?t think anything of it since I carried low my entire pregnancy. After lunch I went to my doctor?s appointment at 1:30. On the way I started having mild contractions around 10 minutes apart. My friend is a nurse at my doctor?s office so I was sitting in the room waiting for the doctor talking to her. Contractions are still mild, but she starts timing them?5-6 minutes apart. The doctor comes in and goes over the normal stuff. I joke that I wouldn?t know I?m in labor unless my water breaks. She asks if I want to be checked or have the contractions monitored?.I say ?no, I?m just going to go home and rest and see if they go away.? On my way home I call DH and tell him not to worry but I?m having contractions and he needs to head closer to home just incase. I get home and take a shower. By the time I get dressed my contractions are 2-3 minutes apart and they are getting really strong. I call DH, in tears at this point, to see where he?s at. He just made it back to work to pick up his vehicle so I tell him to head to the hospital. So I call my dad, who was close by and he?s at my house within five minutes and we head to the hospital. Of course we get stuck behind a school bus that stopped at least 4-5 times, at this point contractions are about a minute apart. We get to the hospital around 3:00 and I?m told I have to wait for a nurse to take me up to labor and delivery and I need to get into a wheel chair?I ?politely? inform them at this point I do not want to sit in that ?lovely? chair. Finally a nurse comes and lets me walk to the elevator. We get to the labor and delivery floor and I take a few steps and gush?my water breaks. They get me into a room and I?m begging the nurse for something ?just to take the edge off?PLEASE?, although I knew in the back of my mind it was too late. Around 3:20 I?m laying in a bed, the nurse checks me and I?m fully dilated. She rushes out to get the doctor. I pushed for 10 minutes and by 4:03 Savannah arrived. Yeah! I had a med free birth and it really wasn?t that bad?.well then things start to go downhill. The placenta wouldn?t come out. The doctor had to manually go in and detach the placenta and yes it?s as painful as it sounds. The placenta was folded in half that?s why it wouldn?t come out. So I get through that, still not checked into the hospital or IV put in. Family/friends arrive to the hospital and they are talking to me and all of a sudden I pass out. I really don?t remember what happened, but this is what I was told?My uterus kept bleeding and wouldn?t contract, the doctor had to go back in and remove the clots (no pain meds?apparently I did a lot of screaming?!). I ended up needing two things of blood and an antibiotic so I finally had an IV put in and I was checked into the hospital.
So the big question is?.more kids?it could be a long time?! On a positive note, I have a beautiful, healthy baby girl. She is a very laid back baby who loves to snuggle!

Re: birth story (really long)
Congratulations on having a healthy baby girl! I'm so sorry that you went through everything that you did - you're a trooper!
I will say that now that you have this history, they can be prepared if/when you have another one. Just to put your mind at ease if that helps!
