Converting Swiffer Wet Jet

Has someone successfully done this? I can't seem to get the cap off of the bottle to replace it with vinegar and EOs. Any tips or tricks?

Also, what do you use as the cloth?

  • I'm not sure about the bottle thing but I know I have seen some of the cloths on etsy....I know not much help at all sorry :)

  • I use the Method or O-Cedar cloths (both available at Tarjay).  You can manhandle the top off of the liquid bottle using a pipe wrench.  It's really quite the feminine process...

    ;-)

  • Ditto on the Method cloths. ?I haven't been gutsy enough to man-handle my Swiffer bottles - I just cut a whole in the top (bottom?) of the bottle and pour in homemade solution with a funnel, then store it upright. ?OR I just use a spray bottle.

  • My mom cuts a hole in the top (well, the opposite end from the natural opening) and then covers it with duct tape once refilled.  Then stores upright.  But at least the duct tape provides some protection if it knocks over.

  • Ditto the method mop heads - they're a touch long but I just fold them over the top and they're find. Or you could cut them down.

I would cut a hole in the top of the bottle and store it upright - that's how it would naturally be stored anyways. My dh manhandled the top off with a wrench and it worked great for awhile but now it leaks. Not a problem when you're using it but I have to take it off the mop and store it with the top up when I'm not using it or it leaks itself dry all over the floor.

  • I've taken the lid off with plyers before.  I did break one, so be careful if you do this.  Also, I've heard of people using prefolds.  I can't do that to my GMDs though :
