if you did cio, did it take longer the 2nd night?

Last night he cried for 30 minutes...tonight I had high expectations for a shorter period..nope he jsut stopped crying and it was 32 minutes.  Anyone do this and still get positive results in the end?  thanks!

  • Are you letting him cry for 30 minutes straight are you going in there?  With Paige, I progessively let her cry for longer, 1 min, go in there comfort, Next time I set the timer for 2 minutes after she started crying.  Etc.  I did get positive from this method.

  • Sometimes DD is more determined than other times.  She is 2.5 and we still have to let her cry periodically to get her to sleep.  Tonight she was about a half hour, but when she was little, the longest she ever went was an hour.  She would go right down a few nights in a row, then cry for a bit another night.

Going in there every few minutes like the other poster does only keeps my DD up later.

    Good luck!

  • I think the second and third night was the worst.  The 4th night was the best in that he cried maybe 5 mins and was out until 4 am for a feeding.  It does get better!  DS would only get way more upset when I'd go in periodically so I stopped and just let him CIO.  But that's what worked for us and he's been sttn since!
