What a special Christmas present! The city's Supertendient of Horticulature (lol!) said we could get our trees planted before before Christmas, if that would work for us. We got to go meet him and watch our trees be planted the day before Christmas Eve.
He was so kind. He went and selected the trees just for us. He said that the original plan was to plant cherry trees, but he found "the best looking dogwoods" - one pink and one white. They're planted side by side, in an open space so we can go sit with them. And he said they'll probably bloom the first two weeks of April . . . . and our babies should have been born April 5.
As bittersweet as it is, we're really going to "enjoy" these trees. We can't wait to go visit them, maybe tie a bow around them (an idea stollen from a nearby tree with a Christmas ribbon), take our families to see them . . .
Thank you again - Beth and Bryan (aka GuitaristsGirl and her Guitarist)
(Oops!, DH just said to not only tell you "thanks," but also that you're "the best ever."
)
P.S. - Schmoodle - Mr. Lantz was so complimentary of "our friend in Chicago."
He indicated it took quite a bit of leg work to make this happen. I'm sure that's partly why he was so good to us - so thanks again!
Re: Our memorial trees - pip
Oh I love Dogwoods. They're such beautiful trees. How wonderful that you will be able to see them bloom in April when your babies would have been born. I'm so glad you have a special place to go visit.
Thank you for sharing the pictures - the park is so nice, I'm glad it all worked out. And I'm happy to hear the compliments from the parks department - I was worried I was annoying him!
Thinking of you, your husband and your babies.
