DS's skin is peeling?

Elliot is 8 days old today and I noticed the skin on his body is peeling the way it would after a suntan comes off. It doesn't look red, irritated, rashy, or anything. Just white skin peeling off, a bit like a lizard. :)

Is this normal for a newborn? It doesn't seem too dry either.

    It's normal.  They kinda shed their skin and get some "new" skin, like we do after a sunburn.

    BTW, I didn't know you had your baby.  He's precious, CONGRATS!

    Totally normal - and no amount of lotion will solve it.  I'm guessing (but don't know for sure) that is has something to do with being wet for 9-10 months and the first layer dries out and comes off leaving behind new skin.
