did you find that you had reflux later on when not pg?
I never in my life had AR until my pgs. My youngest is now nearly 16m and I find that I occasionally have AR symptoms. Does anyone know if getting AR once makes it more likely to develop again?
having it during pg does not put you at greater risk for having it afterwards - unless you gain a lot of weight and never lose it (being overweight increases GERD for most people).
i'm a prevacid rep
in pregnancy- the hormones cause the LES to relax - (the spincter between the esophagus and the stomach that keeps the acid down normally)... which is why you have more while pg - and of course, the addition of baby pushing up on your stomach forces acid up, too.
GL5 - I didn't think it did because I understand why pg causes AR (I had terrible reflux and spent loads of time researching, LOL). But my doctor seemed to imply as much when I saw him for a sinus infection recently. Unfortunately I was too busy trying to get home with my monkeys to pay much attention, and what he said didn't resonate until later. Thus, I didn't get a chance to grill him on this idea.
