I am very jealous! I usually only get that soup when we are out to dinner b/c DH is not a fan. I bet your house smells sooooo good! Do you have a good recipe?
I sliced 2 onions and sauteed them to carmelize them - about 2 Tbsp of butter, a drizzle of oil, and a Tbsp of sugar, on medium to medium-low for about 20 minutes.
Toward the end, I added a splash of balsamic vinegar and a splash of Worcestershire sauce (maybe a bit more than a splash) to deglaze the pan, brown the onions up and add some flavor.
This time, I happened to chop 4 slices of bacon and add it to the onions at the end.
Then I used a package of Lipton Onion Soup mix, and instead of 4 cups of water I used 6, plus a can of beef broth. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for anot 5-10 minutes.
I toasted an English muffin and used the halves on top and sprinkled some cheddar cheese, and broiled it in corningware bowls.
