scrapbookers - cricut question

I am wanting to buy a cricut and am just wondering if anyone can tell me the differences between the personal cutter, the expression, and the create.

Also, any ideas on where the cheapest place to buy one is?

TIA!

Re: scrapbookers - cricut question

  • I am not a scrapbooker, but these things look SO cool!  I saw one at walmart on black friday, and it was really cheap - I almost bought it, just cause it looked neat.  Maybe try there?  Michaels?
  • I am a new scrapbooker who hasn't had time since i got pg. I didn't know what a cricut was so I looked it up. It looks really neat and expensive. You might want to try ebay.

  • The personal cutter is smaller and cuts paper on a mat as big as 6 inches wide by 12 inches long.  The expression cuts on a mat as large as 12x12 and even 12 by 24'' paper.  It is a larger heavier machine but has a bit more flexibility due to it's larger paper size.  (I have the expression and love it)

This description is from the cricut website:

The Cricut Create? Personal Electronic Cutter combines the portability of the original Cricut? machine with the functionality of the Cricut Expression? machine. The Cricut Create machine is the same size as the original Cricut machine, yet it allows cuts from 0.25" up to 11.5" on a 6" x 12" cutting mat. The machine also includes an eight-way directional blade, Portrait mode (to cut taller images), Fit to Page mode (to cut the largest cut possible), Auto Fill mode (to mass produce cuts), Center Point function, and Flip function. An improved display screen and sleek design add greater style and convenience.

The machine includes the DonJuan? font and shape cartridge, one 6" x 12" cutting mat, and necessary cords and manuals.

I went to a lot of sites with reviews with the help of google to decide which to get.  Good luck with whatever you decide, it is a great tool.

  • I have the personal cricut and I love it and use it all the time. ?I bought it at Michael's when they had a great sale on it. ?I also buy my cartridges there when they have great deals.
