How do you feed your multiples solids? Not a food schedule, but really how do you do it--feed at the same time or seperately, seperate bowls/spoons for each baby or the same, feed at the same time of day or different, highchairs or something else? We are just starting this and I never realized that feeding 2 at one time would be as complicated as it is!
Re: solid food feeding strategies
we started with them being fed in their bouncy seats and are now in high chairs. i do one bowl of food and one spoon and always feed them at the same time. you have to do what is best for you to help you keep your sanity as the pp said it was harder in the beginning but now it is pretty easy because they love food so much!
just an FYI making food is a breeze and takes me about an hour once a week and I know it has helped them love different textures and flavors plus it is way cheaper even made with all organic than buying it!
I feed them at the same time - separate high chairs (obviously), same bowl and spoon.
The only thing that kinda grosses me out is when I realize that I sometimes scoop up the food one baby spits out with the spoon then give it to the other baby! Ugh - should that be a Friday confession??????
Baby #3 due September 12, 2014!
At first we used the bumbos with trays to feed them. Now we use their highchairs. If my DH and I are both there to feed them then we each feed one and they have their own bowl and spoon. If I am alone, they get their own bowls with their own food (so I am sure how much they ate) and they share a spoon. They take turns spoon for spoon.
I also make my own babyfood and like the pp said - it is sooo easy. Alot easier and a heck of a lot cheaper than I ever thought it would be. I just make peaches and peas today while they were napping and it took me all of 15 minutes to cook, puree and dish into ice cube trays. And I made 45 servings! I use this website www.wholesomebabyfood.com
Another babyfood maker here too. It's very doable.
We did bumbo trays at first since they were still small at 6 months. We moved to high chairs and had to porp them up a little so they would reach over the top of the tray. We used one bowl one spoon unless they were sick, then I tried to keep it seperate. Sometimes I could make it so only one got sick but sometimes not. Just pick your battles. We did spoon for spoon sharing too. I wasn't much for measuring how much they ate, I just gave them food until they stopped opening up their ouths or until they started to spit out food. Then I knew it was time to stop.
