I don't have a link to that or remember who posted it, but I stole a similar idea from another kindergarten teacher. Michael's has clear ball ornaments on sale, so I got those and you cut out a round photo, wrap it around a pencil, and put it inside the ornament (it pops back out again). Then you stuff colorful garland in behind it, tie a bow at the top, and use a glitter pen to write the name and year on the ball. It looks super cute! Sorry I don't have the idea you actually wanted, though.
I posted it originally, but I am super smart and cannot find a link. Basically, you take a 5x7 photo, cut it into 1/2 inch strips. Cute a hole in the top and bottom of the strips, and put a brad in each hole. Then, just straighten the photos out so it is in the shape of a ball, and tie a ribbon on the top to hang from your tree.
I just did one the other night, and it turned out really cute. My husband even like it.
