Babies: 0 - 3 Months

STUPID dog scratched DS's face. :(

DH took DS out today to visit his great grandmothers. One of them has a little chihuahua and while DH was in the restroom, that dumb dog jumped on DS and scratched his face. I havent seen it yet but DH said it's "kinda bad" but that he's ok. I saw someone on here the other day said to put breastmilk on baby's scratches and that should help heal it faster. Anyone tried this??

  • One of my dogs scratched my DS a couple of months ago. I took him to the ER because it was his eye and it was bleeding pretty bad (and he was SCREAMING) Anyway, it turned out to be fine but they did prescribe antibiotics just because the dog broke the skin. I used neosporin on it and it healed fine, no scar. Altho I have heard the BM thing before too. GL!

  • I would check with the people and make sure the dog is up to date on shots
  • Hmm... I just called DH and he said he didn't bleed or anything. Should I be cleaning it with something else?

If he's not bleeding, it's probably just a shallow scratch and soap and water should be fine!

  • My son's eye had a bunch of goop( for several days) in it and it was pretty red, someone on here said to squirt some bm in it and I did. It cleared up in one day! I don't know about a dog scratch but I don't think it could hurt. I was pretty impressed when I saw the results. (It didn't even phase him when I put it in his eye either..I don't think it stings or anything)
  • I'm coming in waaaaay last, but it's not the "stupid dogs" fault. It's the stupid person's fault for letting the dog get close to your DC.?

OMG r u serious?  Please share your evidence that rabies or distemper has been contracted from a scratch.

And I agree wiyh pp it's not the "stupid dogs" fault. It's the stupid person's fault for letting the dog get close to your DC.  With that being said BM is awesome for minor cuts and abrasions.  Check out kellymom.com for all of its power.
