moms who delivered more than 1

ok so the doctors have all been saying that after 1 baby the rest are all a breeze because your body "remembers" what it is supposed to do.

Real people I've talked to do not all agree.  They say the healing was worst and many say so was the delivery.

Please share your experiences!

Re: moms who delivered more than 1

  • Both much easier the second time around.
  • My healing w/ #2 was WAY WAY better/easier.  My delivery was easier & took only half as long as it did w/ #1.  I also pushed for almost 2hours for #1 & for about 3 pushes (5minutes) for #2.  I think it was MUCH easier for #2 & hoping/thinking #3 will be even easier.

  • SO MUCH EASIER the second time
  • In my experience, I'd have to say #2 was much easier. #1 was much more comfortable though.

With #1 my water broke at home. I couldn't handle the pain because I am a wuss. They gave me an epi at 1 cm. I dilated to 10 in 2 hours. Didn't feel a thing. 10 hours of labor.

With #2, I got to the hospital and was 2cm. I was in a lot of pain. I was begging for an epi. But, because they were full and I was only 2 cm, they were contemplating sending me home. I was not even admitted. I was in full labor in less than 2 hours. They had to hold the baby back until the doctor could get there. No epi! I only had to actually push once because my body was pushing on it's own while we were waiting on the doctor. The nurse and the doctor were completely surprised and very apologetic. I did labor at home for 2 days, but it was not painful until just before I got to the hospital. DS came in an hour and a half.

Recovery wise, With #1 it wasn't bad, but #2 was much easier. I was out shopping the day they discharged me. I could have gone home the next morning, but DS would have to wait since it was a Sunday and the pedi's office was closed. I was ready to go the day I delivered him.

  • #2 was so much easier I was laughing through contractions and pushing.  God bless that epidural :)

  • the delivery was shorter and the pain of recovery was a lot less then second time around.
  • 2 was way easier, the first i had a 4th degree tear that reopened and required packing, the baby blues were nonexistant the second time too

  • My second was my easiest, and then my third. My first was way harder. 36 hour delivery, pushed for 3.5 hours. Bella was born in one push, one hour labor. Maile had a longer labor, she was posterior, and I had very painful back labor for awhile, but she was born with 4 minutes of pushing. I never had a single tear or episiotomy with any of them, and recovery was a breeze each time. I'm having a harder time this time just because I had 3 hard pregnancies one after another.
  • THe second delivery and recover were much easier!  HOwever, the body recovery (meaning stomach) is not going as well.
