Okay, I know I'm being melodramatic, but I just my package from the adoption agency and it is massive.  I mean I expected a lot of stuff to be needed to filled out, but oh, my.  there is SO much not only to be filled out, but just gotten from other people, like references, health reports, pet vaccations and the profiles.  How long did it take for everyone to fill theirs out?  I'm afraid it might take me months.  Not that I've been discouraged, but it was just unexpected how much there was.  And am I the only one who felt this way when they got the package?

Yeah, it is a little overwhelming.  I just looked at it this way, you are getting a human being, so there should be a huge amount of paperwork involved.  (moreso than a house or buying a car)  Babies are much more valuable than those things of course!  Good luck and just remember that these things are our "labor" of love to bring our babies home.

I know it seems like a lot and it is.  But it is all paperwork that is required.

It took us a couple of hours to do most of it and then a good part of an afternoon to do the rest.  It took us the longest to do the financial part of it - because we had to go through all our records and bills.

The references took a while as well because we had to call everyone to make sure they were ok with it and also to get full addresses, etc.

I must say, dedicating some time just for that with no distractions is the best advice.  Plus, a lot of the stuff is duplicated on the forms.

Don't freak out - just take them one at a time

OK OK please don't freak out...........it is totally overwhelming BUT if you take it peice by peice you  will get through it and remember what is at the end of this massive stack of paperwork.........YOUR BABY!!!!  Good luck

Ours took almost a year.  But we're super-lazy people, so take that with a grain of salt.  We have friends who were done and on profile within like 3 months because they were super-motivated!!

I about hit the floor when our paperwork came in so I completely understand how you feel!  Just take a deep breath!  It took us about a month to a month and a half to get through ours (setting up doctors' appointments, getting references, etc).  Just know that it will all be worth it in the end!
