One advantage of Elizabeth is the ability to change nicknames as time goes by. I've gone by Elizabeth, Liz, Ellie, Libby - all in my 34 years Isabella is a bit more limited, IMHO, but also a very nice name!
-Elizabeth
I am a runner, knitter, scientist, DE-IVF veteran, and stage III colon cancer survivor.
I like both, but Elizabeth is less common now adays. I know at least 5 Isabella's. Plus you have more nickname options like Elise, Eliza, Liz, Elle, Ella, Beth, etc.

I prefer Elizabeth.
DH's Step Brother has a daughter named Izabell and MIL and SFIL are always calling her Elizabeth (to us at least!).
i like both names. ?not that it matters, but isabella was just named as the #1 baby girl name of 2008.
?
They're both pretty, but I think like pp said, Isabella is #1 and it's a little overdone (i know quite a few isabellas)
Elizabeth is a classic name that I love!
