So I go in for my regular shots this morning and DH takes me because I don't have a car for awhile. We are sitting there and we see a teenage couple sitting there with their parents...about 2 minutes later in walks another teenage couple with their parents. The one girl is so scared to even walk up and check herself in so her mom does it. Then she needs to go to the bathroom but she is too scared to get up and ask where it's located....so her mom gets up to ask. The 2 couples are sitting near eachother and the one boy asks the other boy "So, did you get your girlfriend pregnant?" He answers, "Yes and this sucks big time!" The first boy agrees and they start laughing like it's funny. I couldn't believe it...I just shook my head. They seriously couldn't be any older than 16...both couples. It just makes me so angry!!!! We have ladies here who are having problems getting pregnant or those that have miscarriages and these irresponsible kids having kids. Just had to share...it's unbelievable the amount of pregnant teenagers today. When I was in high school you BARELY heard about pregnant teenagers and I think there was MAYBE one in high school. Crazy...
Re: My appt this morning
Wow - that is crazy!
There were a few kids in high school who had kids, and there always will be, but it seems almost epidemic now.
Are kids being more promiscuous? (sounds like it) Is there less birth control available? (sounds like that, too.)
We just found out that friends of ours who are in the mid-40s are going to be grandparents right around the time we're going to be parents because their 18 year old daughter is pregnant. If her due date is really around the time of mine, that means she was pregnant when she graduated high school. It just blows my mind. She always seemed like a "good kid" but I guess it doesn't matter...
They aren't too bad at all. I have a very high tolerance for pain so it doesn't bother me. I will be glad when I can stop them though. Thanks for asking.
Oh that makes me sick! Those kids need a reality check. I know this will never happen, but I think all teenagers should be placed on mandatory birth control. IMO, no teenager is ever ready to have a baby. It makes me so mad that these stupid teenagers can't use birth control. I would of been furious if I heard those boys talking like that. I can only hope that the grandparents continue to be very involved in these babies lives. Sounds like their parents (the father's at least) are idiots. It is SO true though, there are many of us that have had a m/c or are having a hard time getting pregnant, it just makes me so angry that teenagers are walking around saying "this sucks". They shouldn't of allowed themselves to get into this position in the first place!
I hope I didn't offend anyone with my rant. DH and I have an important job of teaching Sophia so she never ends up in this type of situation.
It's really frustrating, especially when they act like it (their soon to be child) is such an inconvenience and cramps their current lifestyle. I've seen so many really young pregnant girls out the past few weeks when I've been shopping and I always wonder what they plan to do, how they're reacting, etc.
It's sad when they act so irresponsible and don't want what so many others out there would only love to have.?
Adolescence is a scary time. You can't really comprehend how your actions are going to affect your future. It would be so hard to be a parent before you are ready to be...for the child of a teenager and for the teenage parents, who are still kids themselves. I hope that there is good support for them so that that everyone involved has the best chance at making a good life out of an initially tough situation.
I'm sorry, but Juicy Couture knows that their market is primarily teenagers - yet they make maternity sweat suits, baby onesies and more. Hot Topic even sells baby onesies! I know there's plenty of women who shop these brands who are in their 20s+, but the majority are teenagers.
I would love to see a company that has a teenage market take a stance against teenage pregnancy, rather than make a couple bucks off of it.
