How long does it take for prunes to work?

Poor DS is soooo constipated (straining, crying, etc). I tried white grape juice yesterday with no luck. Today I've given him 2 servings of prunes. Just curious - if you've used prunes before for your DC when they were constipated, how long did it take to get things "moving," so to speak?

I fed it to DS at dinner at 6:30pm, and in the morning around 7:30am he was back in working order.

DD usually goes within 2 hours.  I guess you can try giving more tomorrow!  That is going to be one massive poop.  I hate prune poops.  They are gross and frequent with my dd.

The first time she was constipated it took a few days of prunes to get her back to normal.  Now when I give her prunes the following day is full of huge poos. It's nasty. Try pushing his knees up to his chest and making a bicylcle motion slowly while he's in a warm bath.

I think DD is immune to them;  they don't seem to work.  Pears have also been recommended to us.

Dark Karo syrup works like MAGIC for DD and quicker than prunes.... just in case the prunes don't work for you either.

I gave DS half a container on Sunday and the rest on Monday. ?On Tuesday he had three huge, soft, smelly poops! ?I had (almost) forgotten how delightful a blowout is!

We have to use prune juice - the actual prune food doesn't work. I make 2-3 oz - half juice half water. a few times a day
