Parenting after a Loss

Let's talk belly buttons...

Does your baby have an innie or an outie? ?I kind of figured they all started out with outies because of the way the umbilical cord falls out, but then someone commented on his outie at the pediatrician's office and now I'm wondering if it will stay this way.

  • Both of mine have innies.

  • well it depends...mine have innies but when I have to clean them they turn into outies. I have to push the button in and they pop out and look just like an outie.?
  • DD kinda has both! It looks like it is trying to become an innie... but part is still an outie.  hmmm...i wonder if it will stay that way...?

  • DD is still in recovery mode and so to be honest, I'm still afraid to really give it a good inspection. Though the cord did come off, there is still a small part that has not completely "closed" and so pedi. has been putting some type of special ointment on it. Doc said to leave it alone for right now.
  • Innie. But when he's REAL full, outie. LOL!
  • DD has an innie.

When I was skinny (up until I was 25!), I actually had an outie. Now that I'm fat, I have an innie!

  • gabe has an innie and penny has a halfie (haha!)... seriously, the top half of hers sticks out and the bottom is all the way in.  it's silly... Stick out tongue
  • DH refers to DD's belly button as an "inbetweenie"...half innie, half outie :)
  • Allison's is mostly an innie and has been pretty much since her cord fell off.  She does have a little quarter of it that is a level button (neither in nor out!).  I'm just glad she doesn't have a cavernous innie like me!  That sucker is a pain to clean out!!
  • DS has had an innie since the cord fell off.

speaking of belly buttons - mine is now a HUGE innie. you could smuggle something in there.
