Baby name advice, please. (Not a poll!)

DS #1's middle name is David (my DH's first name). I really want a middle name that starts with Jo for DS#2.  My family is full of them. Joy is my mother, Joe (my stepfather),  Jordan & Joey (sister and brother) and Kimberly Jo (my SIL, DH's sister).  My first choice is Joseph.  I'm afraid that it may offend my father someday, if he ever surfaces again. I haven't seen or heard from him or his family since DS#1 was born 2 years ago. DS #1 hasn't gotten a birthday card from him or my grandparents on that side.  They don't even know I'm pregnant.  Should I even be concerned?  Otherwise, my second choice is Joel.

I think you should do whatever you want and leave it at that. 

A suggestion, not that you asked, is Joshua...also a "jo" name.  Good luck.

Definately don't worry about what he thinks/says.  Do whatever you and DH want to do for sure!

Would it offend him because ds #2 doesn't share a name with him?  I don't think you should be concerned.  Even if he was a part of his life, it isn't like you are selecting the name to purposely exclude him.

I would use Joseph if that is what you like.   I honestly would not waste one second worrying about what your biological father would think if he hasn't been in the picture.   In fact, I would probably use Joseph to halfway spite him, but that's just me!!!

I wouldn't worry about it and would use the name you want to use.

My sperm donor is not a part of my life, and if we ever have another boy we may use my stepfather's (who eventually adopted me and I now refer to as "dad") name as a middle name.  If I were to eventually have contact with my sperm donor again, I wouldn't be too concerned about how it would affect him.  He's made his choices to not be a part of my life - and it sounds like you are in a similar situation.
