The OT team was out today and pretty much think it's digestive in nature- not an oral aversion.
He's really gassy, lots of gurgling.. still really refluxy (though mostly silent) and she thinks he just gets too overwhelmed and uncomfortable to focus on eating.
he clearly WANTS to eat, but just can't get his stuff together. (which is what I kept saying. He loves his paci.. likes the mouth touching games I play with him etc)
So, she offered a few suggestions involving swaddling, distraction etc.
Thinks it may be "dumping syndrome" (Anyone know anything about this?)
and pretty much.. we just ride it out.
I hate to wish away his babyhood, but man I'll be glad when he outgrows this.
Re: update on the feeding issues
It has to be tough to just wait for him to outgrow this. I hope those suggestions help make feeding time more bearable in the meantime.
