New here

I'm 14 weeks today with twins!  For the women who have had twins before, how do you get over the nervousness of it all?  I mean I was nervous with my singleton pregnancies, but it seems that now I'm carrying 2 instead of 1 I'm more stressed.  Worrying that one is doing "better" then the other one.  I am already seeing the dr. every 2 weeks and have been since my first dr. appt.  I get to see them everytime I go in b/c he does an u/s every visit.

I went on Dec. 9, had an u/s and one baby was measuring 13w5d and the other one was measuring 12w4d.  On the day of my appt., I was 12w6d.  The doctor didn't seem to be concerned but I can't help but worry.  I go again on Monday the 22nd, I get so nervous that I'm gonna go in there and he's gonna tell me that the smaller one has stopped growing.  Can you tell I read about it alot online? LOL!!

Any advice for a first time mommy to twins? Thanks! Wink

  • welcome to our special group :)

Your measurments sount great. It's normal to worry, but everything sounds good for you now. Don't be scared to ask us anything. Congrats!

  • Congrats on your twins.

It's perfectly normal for there to be a few days difference in the growth between twins.   Madeline was always a few days and up to a pound smaller than Sarah during ultrasounds.

  • Congrats in your twins. Try not to worry and enjoy your pregnancy! H & H 9 months.
  • First of all, congrats!!!  The women on this board are awesome and full of all sorts of fantastic info.  Secondly, try not to worry...think of them as two separate babies that just happen to be in your belly at the same time.  Just like different babies meet milestones different outside the womb, the same thing will happen inside.  Easier said than done, but try not to worry and try to enjoy it.  Soon enough you'll be huge and uncomfortable and wanting those two out, lol!
  • congrats and welcome to the board! In most cases google is your friend but when it comes to twin pregnancies it is not. Don't worry about the size difference that is normal.
  • Welcome! My twins have measured about a week apart the entire pregnancy. Very early on we were concerned (at 6w), but once they continued to grow and were consistently different in size instead of the gap growing, the doctors said they are not concerned at all. I'm a worry wart too, but have really tried to listen to what my doctors are telling me.

I am worried too but I see its normal mines are a couple of days apart in growth. You'll be fine!

  • I just wanna thank everyone for being so supportive...that might sound corny, but we can do that, right?  We're pregnant!  I'm trying real hard to stay positive...My doctor keeps telling me not to worry about something that I can do nothing about.  That is so much easier said then done.  Keep in mind my doctor is male.  LOL!  Anyway, thank you all again.

For the ladies who have had their twins already...they are all SO adorable!! Big Smile

  • Just wanted to say welcome!  You're right--the women on this board are amazing and a great source of information and positive support.  Welcome, welcome, welcome!
  • Congrats and welcome!
