Talk to me about vinegar for fabric softener

What kind and how much do you use? Doesn't it make the clothes stink like vinegar??

Also, while on the topic of baby laundry, I haven't gotten any special detergent yet but I was thinking - Can I just use the oxygen additive that I put in the regular washes to clean baby's clothes?  Or do you think that won't be enough cleaning power.

You've totally lost me. I use regular detergent and Lucy has totally survived almost two years without so much as a twist in her onesies.

As far as softeners, I just use dryer sheets. I'm so not in the know.

white vinegar and about a cup of it where you would put the fabric softener.  I've only used it on towels though and no, they do not stink like vinegar.  Actually, they smell fresher and I've noticed that our dish rags don't smell so nasty/moldy as fast.

Use white vinegar. Just use it like you would a regular liquid fabric softener. When vinegar dries, you can't smell anything.

I don't know about just using oxygen bleach. I sometimes use it with my laundry detergent, but I use the free and clear oxygen bleach. I have never tried it alone. It seems like it would be fine, but I really can't say.

I use 1/4 cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle and it works fine, no vinegar smell.  As for the oxygen additive stuff, I'd use it sparingly b/c it will make clothes kinda crunchy feeling.  I use purex F&C and add a couple drops of grapefruit seed extract for extra disinfecting power and a nice citrus smell.

I only use vinegar with my cloth diapers and it doesn't make them smell like it.  Although I clean most surfaces in myhome with vinegar, so I may be immune to it.

I don't use it in regular washes.

I just tried using vinegar as fabric softener for the first time. ?The laundry didn't smell like vinegar. ?It wasn't quite as soft as it is with dryer sheets, but it was soft enough.

I also use a 1/4 cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle.  I've recently started using this instead of liquid fabric softener and can't really tell the difference in the softness of the laundry.
