if you're bored - girl name ramblings

i'll eventually get myself down to a short list and maybe do a poll or something, but at this point we are so scattered. i'm almost hoping for a boy since girl names are so hard for us. DH wants to just wait to really decide, but i can't help myself from brainstorming. DD's name is Lauren and which was so easy for us to decide on -  we like "normal" names but not super popular/trendy. Any opinions on the below list, which are the ones I like that DH hasn't completely nixed yet?

Natalie

Sophia

Alana

Sarah (this was more DH's suggestion which i haven't nixed)

Brooke

I go back and forth on Natalie... I know a Natalie who friends always shorten to "Nat" which would irritate the heck out of me. I just thought - can "Talie" but a nickname for Natalie? that sounds kind of cute to me.

  • I like all of them, but I love Sophia and Brooke.

  • I really like Natalie, Sohpia, and Alana.  Sarah and Brooke are just ok, definitely nms.

I  have a friend whose little girls name is Natalie, and they call her Nattie.

    Sophia-Trendy where I live

    Alana-Love it!

    Sarah-It's okay

    Brooke-Pretty

My favorite is Alana followed by Natalie...good name choices by the way!

  • I like Sophia or Brooke best. Sarah's ok too, DH really likes the name Sarah. I'm not a fan of Natalie or Alana at all, they're ok names just NMS.
  • I am biased but my favorite on the list is Natalie.Stick out tongue My DD's name is Natalie Elizabeth and it gets "shortened" a lot by me to Natty Beth a lot. I will say in 5 years no one has ever called her "Nat."..I can't think of that happening even one time by anyone but me or DH and that has been very rare.

I actually like all of the names on your list so you can't really go wrong IMO!

  • I think Sarah goes best w/ Lauren & is probably the least trendy/popular right now...aside from Alana which is NMS & doesn't go w/ Lauren IMO...but I do know a Nestie (she doesn't come around anymore I don't think) who has kids named Alaina & Lauren--LOL!

  • I like them all, but Alana and Brooke probably least (I like Elena instead) and Sarah and Natalie most. I just like classic, traditional girl names.
  • Natalie- cute

    Sophia- nms

    Alana- eh, ok

Sarah -i know a sarah who has completely ruined this name for me

    Brooke-my fave

  • DD is Sophia, my name is Sara :-)

    And I love Natalie.

Alana and Brooke are NMS. I prefer classic names and those two are too "trendy" for my taste. ?

  • Natalie- LOVE it.

Sophia-It's good, but I personally prefer Sophie

Alana- It's okay, but I associate it with some skank from H.S.

Sarah- I like it. Sort of plain, but sometimes that's good. I had a Sarah Grace in one of my pre-k classes and I loved it paired together...and that's what everyone called her. She was precious.

    Brooke- It's nice
