When did you start a regular napping schedule?

So far I've been putting A down around 2:30 and she'll sleep for 1.5 hrs.  This has gone on for about a week but today was a doozy!  I'm wondering if she's not ready for a schedule yet?

Re: When did you start a regular napping schedule?

  • I half-assed tried earlier on and realized she just wasn't going to do it. We're going to start sleep training for naps after the holidays. She'll be over 4 months then.

  • My sister and I started trying to get Max on a schedule a couple of weeks ago... it's kind of working!

I think it'll be harder to get ME on it than him! LOL

  • 4 months.

    Up at 7am

    nap 9-10(ish)

    nap 1-3(ish)

    Bedtime at 7

  • I think I tried to start around 4 months. But we really didn't have a set schedule until about 5-5.5 months. I made sure to put them down a certain amount of time after they first woke up in the morning and then again in the afternoon (I want to say we had a 9 or 10am nap and then another at 1-2pm).
  • around 4 months too.

    up at 530/6am.

    nap at 10/11am

    nap at 3/4pm

    bedtime at 7/8

the UP has always been 5 or 6am, unfortunately.  :(    on the weekends, he lets us sleep in until 630am.

  • There are different schools of thoughts on this topic.

Personally Z never had any kind of schedule until 9 months....

G at 6 months doesn't have a schedule only that I like him to go to bed at 7:30/8pm so DH and I can have an hour, and he gets 2-4 naps a day as needed.

    Mama to Z - 5.5 years, G - 3.5 years, & M - 1.5 years.
  • What is this nap schedule of which you speak?
  • I had to go back and ready Emily's baby journal because I couldn't remember!  ;)

We always journaled her daily naps from birth and once we found consistency, at 4 months old, I began planning my days around her naps so, that's when I started emplementing a daily schedule.

She was STTN 9 hours and was up at 7:30am

She napped at 10am for an hour

    1pm for an hour

    4pm for an hour

    7pm for an hour

Bathtime and bedtime routine started at 9:30pm and she was in her crib in her own room at 10:30pm.

Reading through her monthly journal entries, she took three, 1- 1 1/2 hour naps every day until she was 8 months old when she dropped down to two naps a day.  She dropped down to one nap a day at 14 months old.

    Hope this was helpful!  :)

  • We started around 3 months but that's because she was in daycare.  They were still a nap as needed but we worked on having some consistency.
  • I've never really has a "schedule" I just follow sleepy cues. That said, there was always a predictable routine, but it was set by him and would change every few weeks,
  • Izzie didn't have a set nap schedule until 6 months, and she naturally developed one on her own. 3 naps a day, the times are a bit fuzzy....?
