I was just doing some wrapping, and put a fleece into a gift box and it just reminded me that when I was a kid, my grandma (who had to save every scrap of wrapping paper), would give us stuff in gift boxes and not wrap them. I used to hate that...
We are traveling across the border to Canada for Christmas, and even though its never been an issue, we never wrap stuff before we get there, just in case the agents want to inspect the stuff when we get to the border. I would love to just stick stuff in boxes and not "wrap" them, this way I don't have to do it once I get there (on Christmas day), but yet its still "accessible" just in case.
Is that so horribly tacky? LOL
Re: Do you wrap gift boxes?
You should get beautiful satin ribbon and fold the item in tissue paper before putting into a solid color or white gift box and then wrap it with a beautiful red ribbon and/or raffia. THat is what I would do if I were you with going to canada. There is still the fuss of undoing the ribbon, it is better for the envirnment, ribbon is totally reusable and still classy.
