When did you start actually decorating?

Not just buying furniture, but like painting and putting the room really together?  We are ordering the furniture right before christmas and it should be here by the middle of January.  I'll only be about 17 weeks and I feel like it'll early to start putting everything together, especially since I know once I start it will be done in like a week.

we're moving about four weeks after Cody is born so there's no point in decorating.:(

I'll have to wait until we get to Wyoming.

21 weeks or so. We waited until after we found out the sex to paint or buy anything.

I just ordered my crib and it will take 10 weeks.  Then I am having the dressers done so I am guessing I will be late around 30-35 weeks.

We painted first (2 weekends ago), we bought the crib this past week (won't be here until January) and we have had the dressers since I was little.

We are going to buy a closet system and a bookcase early next year.  We should be completely done by the end of January (31 weeks).

We're looking out for furniture buys, we're "scouting" you could say...

But we won't do the heavy decorating until after 20w.

I haven't bought anything for baby and the nursery is full of?clutter.

My sis is giving me something for baby for Christmas so I feel the need to go out and get something so I can be the first one to have gotten something for baby. It that competitive thing amongst sisters... you know....?

We're moving from our apartment about 6 weeks after the baby is due, then living with my mom for 3 months before moving to the East Coast... so it won't be until she's about 5 months old that she has any real decorations!

our families are pretty superstitious about buying stuff ahead of time (my ILs don't even believe in bringing anything into the house before the baby is born) but after we have our big US and find out the sex...i'll start planning the room and order the crib.

I knew that either way I wanted to do a chocolate brown/green combination, with blue accents for a boy or pink for a girl.  So my Mom bought us an awesome chair and ottoman(pic in bio) at about 15w.

We waited to paint until we found out the sex, then painted when I was about 20w.  We also hung up a chair rail around the room.

We are anticipating getting the crib and furniture for Christmas, I will be about 27w.  If we don't get it then, we will buy it ourselves in January, before I hit 30w.

I want to have the nursery completed by 35w.

we have all our furniture (except glider/rocker) and plan on starting the painting/decorating process around Christmas, when dh has time off from work.

We will order the furniture in the next few weeks and buy everything else after we know the sex of the baby.

Well, we have to move DD to our "guest room" first.  And in order to do that we have to make an office in the finished basement, and in order to do that we have to clean out the garage.  So we will start with the garage in January, then do the office in the basement and then do DD's "big girl" room and then we'll do the nursery......I am thinking it will all be done by 2018.

Well we have the bedding ordered, need to go pick up the furniture when we're in san diego after christmas...but we have the whole scheme set up lol.

 

We want to be done with everything by 30 weeks.

We will have all the furniture- but aren't painting or decorating at all until after baby is born.  DH wants either a boy or girl nursery - nothing neutral.

I don't know why, but we really haven't done anything.  And probably won't do anything until maybe February.  I guess right now we are waiting to see how our job situations shake out with layoffs, etc.

the nursery will be in our bedroom, so we won't be painting. Just moving things around and adding color. I'm not too worried about it. The baby doesn't need a lot.

This is totally my problem, too. We have to move stepdaughters to the "guest room," move the computer and all the toys to the basement, and the basement needs to be painted and carpeted first. Bleh. 

FWIW, if you want to get started, I don't see anything wrong with it. My girlfriend put off ordering furniture and decorating and then had to do a lot of stuff last minute, which was complicated by the fact that she was induced 3 weeks early due to pre-eclampsia.

Not yet... but soon.

We're ordering the furniture this week. The plan is to take advantage of the fact that we're trapped indoors so much of the freezing winter, and do most of the work in January. If all goes well, we'll still have all of the big stuff done by 32-34 weeks and before my shower(s).

I really thought I would be well underway by now. But the holidays tend to take over, and I didn't want to force too much in and not enjoy any of it.

I want to have DD in her new room in January so she has January, February and March to get used to having a new room before her little bro or sis gets here. We're mostly just reusing everything from DD for the new baby, but I'll be decorating DD's room anyway.

We're painting the week between Christmas and New Years (I'll be just over 18 weeks). We already have the crib and dresser, just need to buy the glider and we're having a toy box made for us by DH's uncle. The actual decorations will come with time - my Mom and I are doing a lot ourselves and we'll do some here and there.

With Nora we did everything at 34 weeks when I was put on bed rest for preterm labour. I've never seen my husband work that quickly!

I'm at 19 weeks and we haven't done anything!  we're actually waiting until we find out the gender at 20 weeks...then we'll start buying stuff.  We're slackers like that.  ha!

We haven't done anything yet. ?We ordered our furniture in October, but we're still waiting for it to come in. ?Once the furniture arrives, we'll set up the room, but we probably won't "decorate" until sometime in 3rd tri... or at least after the shower when we get more of the stuff.

We're waiting until we find out the sex to even order the furniture, so it will probably be somewhere between 25-30 weeks depending on how long the furniture delivery takes.

We haven't started decorating, but have tossed around ideas.  DH is pretty definate that he wants a polka-dotted room that we saw in a bungalow house tour (we have a arts and crafts era house).  I think that we will also have a Marx brothers themed room with vintage posters we have looked for some online.  We're having a boy and have been calling him Harpo (Marx) as a nickname.  Not sure where that came from...
