WTF? If you live in Florida!

Do you really care if Casey's mom gets the death penalty?

"The Orange County State Attorney's Office said in a news release last week that "it is not in the best interest of the people of the state of Florida" to pursue the death penalty against Anthony. "

Why isnt it in your best interest?  Seriously, I hate it when officials make comments for me.  If I lived in Florida, and they had a solid case, I say kill the beech.

Re: WTF? If you live in Florida!

  • I don't live in FL...but up here the avg. cost of housing someone for their lifetime (esp. w/ how young she is ) is millions of dollars.  I would think it would be in the tax payers best interest to kill her too!

  • Sorry - Caylee's mom - Im pregtard today.
  • I live in FL and agree with the death penalty. I thin kit should be used in this case and if you got a problem with that tough cookies!! I don't know what's up with these "officials"
  • If I lived in Florida, I would not want to be paying to keep her in jail until she finally dies. I would just want to put the whole state out of its misery and give her the death penalty.
  • I think that if she doesn't get the death penalty, don't put her in a private cell and make sure the guards have a reason to look away for awhile.  I would think a lot of women in prison wouldn't put up with her.  A man who lived in my subdivision, that I lived in as a child was arrested for raping and murdering a little boy.  they put him in a general area in a prison, he was dead within his first day of lock-up.
  • Dont live in FLA, but man, I would love a minute or two with that monster...
  • I don't support the death penalty.  It makes no economic sense and I don't see another reason for it.  I think it is more humane than life in prison without parole, but I don't really care about that.

I agree with you. I think it is more of a punishment to be put in general population and have to deal with being in prison the rest of your life than be put to death.  That's an easy way out for them.  I think the other inmates would take care of her just fine.

  • I'm all for the death penalty...I know in CA it's something like 50 a day per inmate for county jail...the cost of prison per inmate per day has to be more. I agree living with what you did would be the hardest thing ever...but I don't want to pay for you to wallow in your sorrows, sorry.
  • I'm not in FL, but I am ALL about the death penalty. Sorry, but sometimes people just deserve to die.
  • she is one instance where her penalty shouldn't be humane...at all. She should be tortured, starved, beat the crud out of her.

Strangely, prisioners / criminals, have their own code when it comes to children. I bet quite a few would love to get her hands on her. She won't last long if she's not in a private area.

  • The cost of the numerous appeals, first through the state court system, then through the state habeas system, then the federal habeas system, coupled with whatever lack of evidence they may have that would support the state-specific statutory "aggravating circumstances" that are necessary for a death penalty case, MAY be why the State Attorney's office said it was not in the best interest of the people of the state of Florida.

I'm not arguing against anyone's personal reaction to Casey Anthony or the case, I'm just trying to point out some of the possible realities of the situation.

  • maybe im an as*hole, but I sure don't want to pay for people to sit in prision when they did something so heinous.  If you murder someone, what rights do you have to live?
