DD has gone through phases - for a while she would wake up happy and babble to herself until we came in to get her. Then, the past couple weeks/months before we moved her into her big bed, she would cry in the mornings. Now she is in her twin bed, and just comes out of her room when she's up for the day or will talk to herself for a while in there.

DS has been the same exact way lately! He used to just wake up and be content to stay there for an 30 mins or so while I get ready for work. I wouldn't even know he was awake until he started talking to himself. Lately he's been waking up every morning standing in his crib screaming and crying MAMAMAMAMAMAMAMA!
It's a phase...both my girls did this too right around 2.
Is he able to get out of bed and come in your room...not sure if you want that or not..but when Audrey learned she could just come in our room, it got better.
When DS wakes up from naps he is usually crying, but in the mornings (weekends) he wakes me up. During the week, I wake him up and he is usually all smiles and ready to eat!

Goes like this: "Moooooommy! Come pick me up! Evan waked up! Scary monsters. Chocolate milk. Baby's thirsty. I hear rain. Where's my train? What movie you wanna watch?" with lots of smiles and laughter. He's crazy.
For the past month or so, DD (who is 19 mos) has started crying first thing. No more playing in bed for 30 mins while I sleep! Same thing for naps. I'm hoping it doesn't last.

My son sleeps in a toddler bed so he wakes up and comes to my side of the bed and asks for cereal and he's usually singing around the house when he first wakes up. He is usually very happy in the morning.
Re: How does your toddler wake up?
Liam is 5!
She just talks/babbles/sings/calls for me. She is a morning person!

Sometimes she cries a little. Mornings are usually like this "Sam, it's time to wake up" "No, mommy, it's time for sleep"
Takes her a good 20min to wake up. She takes after me :-)
